Key Verse: Joh 5:26-27 for as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of Man.
Man's authority before Fall

Psa 8:4-8 Dominion over all and put all things under feet
Gen 9:2-3 All things would fear. Into your hands delivered.
Heb 2:8 God left nothing outside mans control
God has given authority only to man and he himself as God will not change it as he is bound by his own promise
God does not change his mind
Num 23:19 - God's unwavering protection for Israel ctx - Balaam goes back to God on Balaak's request to curse Israel
Rom 11:29 - God's promise to Israel (Context: In spite of Israel's hardening God still left a opening for them if they did not continue in unbelief because of the word he had given.
God's plan is for man to have dominion eternally and that will not change
How Satan took Man's dominion
Principle of slavery
Rom 6:16 - We become slaves to what we obey
Note: Righteousness does not just make us slaves but makes us Children of God, co-heirs with Christ
Effects of Fall
- Sin Leads to --> Death which is a power ruled from Adam's sin --> belonging to Satan
- Rom 5:19 Eve was deceived but Adam disobeyed and became a slave(Rom 6:16)
- Rom 5:14 Due to disobedience Death Ruled
- Heb 2:14 Satan controlled the power of death (How did he get it?)
· Satan is defeated foe as he no longer has control of the slaves. Satan is no longer ruling over believers so he destroyed Satan's Hold on believers
· Satan demands death since he accuses saints day and night about their sins, but by the death of Jesus price was paid - So Satan's cannot demand the souls of the saints since Jesus perfect sacrifice is paid and Jesus himself is interceding on our behalf - Satan's ability to demand is destroyed
Satan is destroyed prophetically in the future as the Lord finished
Proof of Satan's Rule
Mat 4:8-9 Satan used to control all kingdoms
Jesus Broke Satan's Rule
- Heb 2:14-16 he Destroyed Satan's power now and Satan himself will be destroyed in the future coming of Christ. This transaction is complete
- Rev 1:18 - Jesus took back the keys of death
- Joh 5:26-27 Jesus regained all authority that Adam had lost.
Dominion was promised to Man, Adam lost the dominion therefore Jesus had to come as a man to regain the dominion
What does this mean for the believer?
1. Trusting in Jesus means sharing in his authority and dominion on the earth
2. Heb 2:15 - freedom from the fear of death
3. Death brought Hopelessness and depression (old people / terminally sick get depressed when they know they are leaving the world) Whereas in Christ believer's are looking forward to a resurrected life
4. Death brought a reason to Sin. Eat , drink and be merry anyway we have a short life enjoy it as much as poosible however you can. (1Co 10:7)
Believers have complete authority on earth to invite God to do his will on earth
By Giving room to Sin Adam was driven out of God's presence and Satan given control over the World, Jesus through his sinless life and obedient sacrifice gave authority and dominion back to us
